The Two Most Important Factors When Selecting Your Relocation Tour to Panama

Last Updated on August 16, 2025 by Retire in Panama

Oscar, Megan, and Rod, the company’s owners, do our tours, and we have an excellent driver. We do not hire tour guides with limited relocation experience to do our tours. You get 30-plus years of combined experience living in Panama and helping expats move here. One key point to consider is that every phone call or email you make to us is answered by one of us in Panama, expats living in Panama.

knowledge of Panama#1: Knowledge of the Relocation Team Doing the Tour.

You must get good information by going to the best places in the country and meeting the best experts in immigration, health insurance, rentals/real estate, banking, logistics, and more.

Retire in Panama Tours comprises Oscar, Megan, and Rod to address the knowledge issue. Oscar, a fully bilingual Latino expat, has been helping expats move to Panama for over 15 years. Oscar is very well known in Panama and has traveled to every possible location in this country, showing it off to clients from around the world.

Megan, from the USA, has lived in Panama for over seven years and is now married to Oscar. She is our Director of Operations and handles all the logistics of the tours. Upon arrival in Panama, Megan immersed herself in Panama culture with the Peace Corps and learned Spanish fluently in two years. She is an incredible asset to the team. She will speak with you about the culture and possible culture shock you may run into in Panama.

When Rod arrived in Panama 13 years ago, Oscar was his relocation guide, assisting him with immigration, health insurance, driver’s license, and getting a vehicle.  With his online abilities, he runs the company’s back end, marketing, and sales. Still, he will also join you in the last three days of the tour to assist you with questions about finances, immigration, working in Panama, banking, pet relocation, and logistics.

#2: After tour support.support in panama

If you purchase a relocation tour, be sure it includes one-on-one after-tour support. You may not decide to move to Panama for another year or more, so the relocation company still needs to be able to help you out at that time, as things change fast and often in Panama.

On the issue of after-tour support, we set up our company and business plan on a model so we could provide that. That is why our tours are smaller, 8 – 16 people per tour, so we have time to give you during and after the tour. We are not running 60 – 100 people through a system monthly, thinking that we can provide them with the support they need in the future. 16 is our maximum; providing more support during the tour and speaking with the experts, you can have private one-on-one conversations with immigration lawyers, health insurance experts, rentals people, and the bank manager right on tour. You can all have private conversations with the other expats we invite to meet you. You can’t do that with 30 or more people on a tour.

This small group size provides something extra; you will know everyone on the tour the first day and leave with all new friends. The small group of you will do everything together for seven days, and we have seen groups from years ago still communicating with each other. It also allows us to move around better, in and out of restaurants quickly, checking into our hotels rapidly, and being able to be spontaneous, like stopping on the side of the highway to try some sugar cane juice from a roadside vendor, making tweaks to the agenda, because the group wants to see something different, things a bus full of 30 or more people can’t do.

When we dine, we all sit around one or two tables, and we all sit together by the pool; the learning and Q & A happens throughout the tour, as you are free to ask Oscar, Megan, and Rod questions about anything, at any time, as we are a small group and always together and discussing Panama. The time in the van is spent getting to know each other, taking in the beautiful landscapes of Panama, and learning about Panama’s geography, wildlife, and culture, which Oscar loves to talk about as our experienced driver gets you to the following location.

We have the experience and can support you one-on-one whenever you decide to move here. Oscar, Megan, and Rod will have the time to assist you personally in your move. After you have returned home when it is time to start planning your move to Panama, reach out to us. We will set up a one-on-one video conference call with you and us to discuss your move and build your unique checklist to get you to Panama. This is all included in your tour price, and there is no time limit on moving here; we will be here for you!
